ARRIVAL |
General Admission Gates
Typically, they will open the gates a bit before the official start time (anywhere between 15 minutes to a half hour early). If you are there early (preferably an hour early), you can get to one or two of the houses before lines get long.
Priority Entrance
Universal Resort Guests will have a dedicated priority entrance to the to the of the Universal Studios Florida gates, in front of the former Blue Man Group Theater. They will begin scanning tickets at approximately 5:30 pm.
Holding Areas
Your best bet to get in early is if you have park tickets that day, or to purchase a Stay and Scream early entry ticket. Be inside Universal Studios before closing (at least 30 minutes before to avoid the crowds waiting to get into the event) and head to one of the “holding areas” where they will check you in by scanning your ticket. Usually at least one haunted house is opened early for each holding area. Holding Areas for this year’s event are located at Delancey (near Revenge of the Mummy and Finnegan’s), Springfield/Krustyland, and at Today Café in Production Central. Check with a Universal Studios Team Member when you check in to find out which holding area is closest to your top priority haunted houses and choose accordingly. Usually, you will have access to places to sit, some food options, and restrooms. This beats standing outside the gates waiting to get in!

HELPFUL INFORMATION |
- This first two weeks are usually the least busy.
- Saturdays are the busiest, followed by Friday.
- Guests wearing costumes will not be admitted to the event.
- It may be difficult to see all 10 haunted houses in one night without Express Pass or an RIP Tour.
- Express passes for the parks (whether purchased for the day at the park, or the pass you get for staying at one of the resorts) are NOT valid during the event. An Express Pass ticket add-on is available for the event.
- Have a game plan going in – prioritize the haunted houses that are the most important. Decide in advance if you’re all about the haunted houses or if you’d like to experience attractions as well. Get a HHN map in order to plan your strategy before you enter.
- The “scareactors” cannot touch you, and you cannot touch them.
- Try to see as many houses early as you can. The lines will get longer over the first hour.
- Midpoint during the night the house lines will probably be at their longest. This might be a good time to ride some of the attractions. Using the single rider line will cut your wait as well. Men In Black, Revenge of the Mummy, Escape from Gringotts, and Transformers, all have single rider lines. Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket has a single rider line as well, but it’s usually just as long as the regular line.
- Lines will likely be shorter again toward the end of the night (within an hour of closing).
- Line lengths seem to vary every year depending on theme and location. The licensed houses tend to attract loner lines. The sound stages near the front entrance draw large crowds since it’s the first houses you see when you enter.
