Getting off your Royal Caribbean cruise to go home is without a doubt the saddest day of your vacation. No one likes it and even thinking about it is downright depressing but it’s busy day so we wanted to discuss what you need to know about getting off your cruise to go home.
LUGGAGE |
Royal Caribbean offers a complimentary service where they will pick up your luggage the night before disembarkation and deliver the luggage to shore for you. Guests who opt for using this service have a few steps to follow to ensure a smooth departure.

Every cruiser will receive luggage tags with a number at the end of the cruise in sequential order. The number corresponds to what time your luggage will be ready for you to get off the ship. The number is based on your post disembarkation plans (i.e., flight times, post-cruise stays near the port, etc.). Guests with early flight times will tend to receive tags with lower numbers. If there are any issues with the number on the luggage tags you receive, please visit Guest Relations as soon as possible.
Your bags will need to have the luggage tags affixed so that they are visible and be placed in the hallway outside your stateroom buy the time indicated on your departure documents (usually by 11 pm). Royal Caribbean crew members will take your luggage and have it ready for disembarkation so that you the only thing you’ll need to carry off the ship is a small bag with things you cannot pack. You will head to the luggage pick up area once ashore.
Those that take their luggage on their own can get off the ship at any time once the ship has cleared customs. This allows for the quickest way to disembark the ship, however, it means that you have to physically bring all of your own luggage from your stateroom, through the ship and then ashore.
DISEMBARKATION DAY |
Breakfast will be available in select locations, such as Windjammer and the Main Dining Room. Once you pack up the last of your things, bring all of your belongings to breakfast and enjoy a meal before being directed to your waiting station.
Each group number (the number from your luggage) has a special waiting area where you can sit as you wait to be called for disembarkation. Once customs clears your ship, Crew Members will begin calling group numbers, with groups spaced out evenly to (try to) avoid congestion. If you are taking your own luggage off the ship, you can disembark at any point during this process.
The last group will need to have gone ashore by approximately 9 am. It’s important to note that breakfast service usually ends early, so check your app or Cruise Compass the night before to know what will be available.
To disembark the ship you will need your SeaPass and your passport/identification. You will scan your SeaPass card one final time before going to the port luggage area to get your luggage from an area for each number. You can optionally use a porter to haul your luggage for you (the service is free, but a gratuity is expected).
