For guests that may not want to utilize a mobile phone to act as park tickets, open room doors, manage PhotoPass photos, make purchases, and other functions, there is an option to purchase MagicBands.  They are an optional item that can be purchased to use as your Keys to the Kingdom.  Like the My Disney Experience App, MagicBands will make your vacation a bit more efficient, but you’ll wear it on your wrist rather than having to pull out a phone.  Everything that is linked to your My Disney Experience account can be linked to your choice of MagicBand.  This guide lists all the great things that Magic Bands will do for you.

MagicBand+ Single

Each member of your party, regardless of age, has the option of purchasing MagicBand.  Personalizing your MagicBands is done through your My Disney Experience account.  Each person can purchase a MagicBand from a selection of solid colors, Premium MagicBands, or MagicBand+.  Based on your preference, MagicBands will be delivered to your home, or they will be waiting for you at your resort.  If you would like a MagicBand with more character, be sure to look at the specialty MagicBand options and MagicBand+ options that are available for purchase when personalizing your bands in your My Disney Experience account (selections subject to availability and frequently change).

You can also check out the Disney Store online, or at the various stores on Disney property.  You will find many different MagicBands that are all decked out with various characters, colors, and designs.  A separately purchased MagicBand can easily be added to your My Disney Experience account.

Because your MagicBand contains an RFID chip, it links to the Disney computers for your specific vacation.  This begins with your resort room access.  Once your room is assigned, it will be linked to your account.  Just place the Mickey symbol on your MagicBand near the Mickey symbol on your resort room access pad, and your room will be unlocked.  Only MagicBands linked to your resort reservation can unlock your room.

Theme parks tickets that are linked to your My Disney Experience account are linked to your party’s MagicBands.  As you enter each park, place your MagicBand near the Mickey Ears on the entrance post, and the light will turn green.  Place your index finger on the attached reader (to make sure that no one else is using your band) and you’re good to go.  Each person in your party will use their own MagicBand to gain access into the parks.

Whether you are paying for a souvenir, food, spa treatments, boat rentals, or a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover, your MagicBand can serve as a charge card.  Leave a credit card on file at your resort or link a credit card to your My Disney Experience Account, and then you won’t need to carry cards or cash to the parks.  Using a MagicBand for payment can reduce the chance for credit card fraud, identity theft, or missing cash.  Place your band near the reader, enter the 4-digit PIN code you set up in your My Disney Experience account, you’re done!

PhotoPass is a service provided by the Disney parks.  Whenever you have a photo taken by a PhotoPass Photographer they will scan your MagicBand to link your photos to your My Disney Experience account.  If you’ve purchased Memory Maker with your Walt Disney World Resort Package, you’ll have immediate access to all of your PhotoPass photos, which can be downloaded immediately.  Downloads of photos are available for purchase if the Memory Maker option has not been purchased.

Guests who have purchased MagicBand+ for use during a Walt Disney World vacation can now use these accessories at the Disneyland Resort in southern California as well as on Disney Cruise Line, starting with the DisneyBand+ preview on board the Disney Wish!
