Planning A Disney Wedding: Answering Your Questions

Planning A Magical Disney Wedding

Wedding planning is an incredibly exciting, once-in-a-lifetime experience! From your guest list to entertainment and especially the location! What if you could take the most magical day of your life and make it even more magical. Imagine walking down the aisle towards Cinderella Castle, or sharing your first dance as a married couple with views of Spaceship Earth.

With Disney Fairy Tale Weddings, you don’t have to just let those images stay in your dreams. With the help of your Dream Designer and Disney Wedding Consultant, you can have the most magical wedding of your dreams. But is the Most Magical Place on Earth the place for your special day? We asked our Disney Brides to share their experience with you!

Is A Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Right for You?

Dream Designer Courtney Mikula knew right away that a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding was in her future. “My husband Richard proposed to me almost exactly one year prior on Main Street U.S.A. in front of Cinderella Castle. We had dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table, followed by fireworks. He proposed shortly after. It was such a magical moment and dream come true. I knew right away that I wanted a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding.

Sometimes life lines up things in ways that you could have never imagined. Dream Designer, Stephanie Anderson got her dream destination when all her other options were no longer available. “It’s a dream I always had but never thought would come true. But when Hurricane Katrina wiped away all of the places at home, I wanted to get married at Disney and we made it happen!”

What Does the Wedding Planning Journey Look Like?

Once you have worked with your Disney Wedding Consultant to select a wedding venue and choose a date and time for your wedding, then you will be introduced to your Disney wedding team!

Dream Designer Rachel King recalls her planning experience magical from the first moment. “Honestly, it was one of the most memorable times for me. We met our wedding planner, Meri, for the first time in May 2011. Meri was amazing and walked us through everything. The next time we would visit with her was when we did our food/cake tasting which we were able to bring my mom, sister, and grandma along for that. I seriously felt like a celebrity during the food tasting! We were taken into the kitchen of the Grand Floridian where there was a table all set and a marquee with congratulations, Andrew and Rachel, on it. The chef discussed and gave us a pretty sizable tasting of each item we were considering serving (we choose to do plated over buffet). The cake tasting was just as nice. Since we were living in South Carolina at the time a lot of communication was via phone or email, but she was wonderful at answering all our questions along the way.

From coordinating logistics with photography, culinary, floral, to curating timelines, and more! Your wedding planner will manage all the details related to your event. They are there to give you peace of mind so that you can enjoy every moment of your special day. You and your planner can determine what planning cadence works best for you throughout your planning process based on your individual.

“We started by deciding how many family members we wanted to be with us. Then, by contacting DFTW. They were amazing.” Dream Designer Stacey Cox recalls, “It was very stress-free! Perfect for any bride.”

How Do I Determine My Disney Wedding Budget?

“I preferred having a smaller wedding at Disney than a huge wedding at home. For what we got and the service and attention to detail that Disney gives our wedding was well worth the cost.” – Dream Designer Rachel King

Setting a wedding budget is an important part of the wedding planning process and we’re happy to help you! At Walt Disney World, wedding pricing is designed to be very flexible and allow you to include the experiences that are most important to you and the guests that you want to share it with.

“We expected it to be much more. You can really tailor the cost to your budget.” – Dream Designer Stacey Cox

How does this work? Your wedding event minimum is determined by the wedding venue you choose, the day of the week, and the time of your event. Once your minimum has been determined you can meet that cost by incorporating the elements that are most important to you in order to create your fairy tale wedding!

“I was surprised that the overall cost was more reasonable than I expected. Plus, the option to make payments after the initial venue deposit.” Dream Designer Courtney Mikula says, “We also had a Saturday evening wedding/reception with the Wishes Collection package that was fully customizable. There were lower-priced package options we could have selected such as a weekday brunch. We also wanted several extra special Disney touches such as the carriage and Mickey & Minnie appearance at our reception.”

With Over 50 Ceremony Locations, Was It Hard to Decide Where To Have Your Ceremony?

Now that you have identified the elements of your fairy tale wedding and you know your budget and guest count, you can choose a destination. Is it a romantic beach setting, an international-inspired destination, or a charming forest? We have all those options and much more available at Walt Disney World. So, all you have to do is decide where you want to go.

We got married at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It was an easy decision. A beautiful venue saying our vows with Cinderella Castle in the background at my favorite Disney resort. We had our reception at the Grand Floridian as well. We also had a private photography session at Magic Kingdom before the park opened.”
