Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – All the 2018 Details

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a favorite fall experience for families each year.  We have all the details of this year’s party right here for you.

Here are our top tips you should know before attending so that you can have the most fun.

  1. Dress Up !! Yes, this is trick or treating time.  While you don’t have to (and many don’t), coming to the party in costume is encouraged.  Disney does ask that you dress appropriately and in good taste, however.  Costumes should NOT:
    1. Obstruct your view or interfere with your ability to board or unload from attractions (including transportation)
    2. Drag on the ground
    3. Contain sharp or pointed objects that might accidentally strike another guest
    4. Be offensive to another guest, contain weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for a real weapon.
    5. Acceptable accessories include: transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
    6. …and avoid layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body as you may be subject to additional security screening.
  1. Party Hours- Although the official party hours are 7pm-midnight, your ticket allows you into the park at 4pm. Take advantage of the extra hours for more fun!  (DVC guests can enter at 2:00)
  1. Special Event Merchandise. When the party begins at 7:00, the stores will release special merchandise especially for the party.  Merchandise includes shirts and other clothing as well as commemorative trading pins.  The crowds for these can be rough, so plan accordingly.  It is best to be at the shop at 7:00 sharp (if not a bit before) if you plan on seeing the entire selection.  Full event merchandise is available at The Emporium and Big Top Souvenirs.  Event trading pins will be located at Frontier Trading Post, and costume pieces will be available at Curtain Call Collectibles.  Limited merchandise will be available behind Main Street U.S.A. as you are led through the first entrance to the party.
  1. Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade. If Halloween characters are up your alley, don’t miss this parade.  Listen for the clip clop of the horse leading the parade and watch as the Headless Horseman opens the festivities.  There are one or two dark scenes with the Disney villains, but this is an all-age appropriate parade.  Show times for the parade are 9:15 pm and 11:15 pm, with the later parade being less crowded.
  • Happy HalloWishes. We have all been captivated by the fireworks displays at the Magic Kingdom, but we promise you that this will take your breath away !  Be sure to capture this incredible display from somewhere in front of the castle.  We typically recommend other locations for HalloWishes that are away from the crowds, but we suggest that for these, you adjust your plans accordingly to be front and center.  These are so spectacular that they are typically shown only once, so don’t miss them.  Showings are at 10:15 p.m.
  • Special Appearances – Check your special party map for the character locations. During these parties, the characters are a plenty.  Look for the dance parties, as well as Snow White and ALL seven dwarfs.  This is the only time they are out together.
  • Frontierland Costume Promenade – NEW this year, young trick or treaters can show off their costumes to the other guests with the help of Prospector Cactus-Flower Cate.
  • Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam – from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, head to Storybook Circus and dance with your favorite Disney Junior characters.
  • Photopass Magic Shots – The party is also a great time for Photopass pictures. There are special themed Halloween Photopass opportunities, especially near the Haunted Mansion.  How about a picture with a hitchhiking ghost?  Just ask for a “Magic Shot”.  Your party guide map will list all the Magic Shot locations.
  • Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular! – The mischievous Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” return to the mortal world for one night during the Halloween season. With only a few hours to run amuck, the three sisters decide to use their magic to throw the best, evil Halloween party this side of the graveyard!   With the help of their Disney villain friends, they will cast a spell on the entire Magic Kingdom!   The show will take place on the main stage of Cinderella Castle.  Showtimes are 8:30 pm, 10:45 pm, and 12:00 am through September 28.  Beginning September 30, four shows will take place at 7:40 pm, 8:35 pm, 10:45 pm, and midnight.
  • Trick-or-Treat. What Halloween celebration would be complete without old-fashioned trick or treating?  Grab your trick or treat bag when you enter the park, and check your party guide for the trick-or-treat locations.  There are stations throughout the park and even two trick or treat trails!  The lines are one-way.  Don’t forget your pleases and thank-you’s.  Options for guests with food allergies are available upon request at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A.

Tentative Trick-or treat locations are as follows (subject to change):
