You are great parents. In fact, you are amazing parents. You did what most parents dream for their children, took them to Walt Disney World for a vacation expecting magic, pixie dust, and fun. I’ve been very fortunate to have visited Walt Disney World many times in my life, but for many, the visit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I honestly don’t know if this was your first or fiftieth visit, but for you to save the money, do the planning, and make the trip shows that you love your children very much. No one can ever doubt or take that away from you.
Tonight, thousands are on their knees praying for you. Our hearts hurt with you, and we cry tears of sorrow with you. I can’t begin to imagine the horror that you are going through right now. I simply can’t. Please know that there is a world of people out there, especially those in the Disney community, who are lifting you up in this darkest hour of your lives.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked along those same beaches. Along with other families, we walk the beach in the evening hours to scope out a great place to watch the electric water pageant, or find the perfect spot for a glimpse of the fireworks. You, no doubt, were probably doing the same thing. I’ve often let the kids run free because who would ever expect there to be a danger in the area. What happened last night was a horrific act . No one, certainly not you as parents, could have ever anticipated what happened. I know your grief is deep, but please know and accept – This was in No Way Your Fault. You are amazing parents who just love their kids.
