Five Common Disney Cruise Line Myths Debunked

Your family has come together and has started talking about your upcoming vacation plans. The conversation is leaning towards a voyage on the Disney Cruise Line, but the little voice in your head from all of the things you have heard keeps piping in. The ideas of tiny staterooms, having nothing to do but eat and having every moment of your day scheduled begin to make you think you should reconsider. Before you toss out the idea, allow us to ease your mind. There are so many misconceptions out there about cruising. Allow us to bust the top 5 Disney Cruise Line myths!

The Staterooms Are Tiny

While it’s true that you won’t walk into a room the size of a small apartment (unless you secure the Roy O. Disney Suite) your room will still have plenty of space for your and your family to relax. In fact, Disney Cruise Line has some of the largest staterooms at sea! The room features a curtain that divides the main bed from the living area. Behind the curtain, is a living area that your stateroom attendant will magically transform into the second sleeping area while you are at dinner each night. Most staterooms feature a split-bath which allow multiple people to get ready at the same time. On one side, you will find a sink and commode, and the other will feature another sink and shower. There is also an abundance of storage including two closets, dressers, cabinets, under the bed and shelves. Once all of your items have been unpacked, you will be amazed by how much space you have.

There Is Not Much To Do

When you get on a cruise, all there is to do is wait by the pool until dinner time.  While the pools on the ships of the Disney Cruise Line are fun and enjoyable, they are not the only onboard activities. Take in a first-run movie in the Buena Vista Theater, enjoy a round of trivia or Bingo in the D Lounge, or share a hug with your favorite Disney Character. If you take a look at your ship’s Navigator, you can see an array of activities throughout the entire ship.  From sunrise yoga, to midnight dance parties, there is something for everyone to enjoy at just about any time of the day.

Cruises Are Too Scheduled

While there are scheduled events that you cannot ignore, such as the Muster Drill and All Aboard times, you can call the shots on the times for all of your onboard fun. Don’t want to go to dinner at your scheduled time, no worries! Head up to the pool deck and grab a slice of pizza and cone of ice cream. Better yet, order room service and enjoy a meal on your private verandah. Don’t want to get off the ship during your port day? Sleep in and enjoy having the ship practically to yourself. It’s your vacation, enjoy it how you want to enjoy it.

Disney Cruises Are Expensive

While prices can seem daunting at times, the value of the cruise far exceeds the cost. In fact, you may find that you spend the same amount on your Disney Cruise Line vacation as you would on a land-based vacation. All of your meals, most onboard activities and even Broadway calibur shows are included in your cruise fare. You even have the opportunity to make stops in multiple countries, so you are getting much more out of your trip than just one vacation. Unlike with other cruise lines, there is also no need to purchase additional soda packages as sodas, teas and other beverages are included in your cruise fare. When comparing the cost of a Disney Cruise Line vacation with a Walt Disney World vacation, the prices come up much more comparable than one might imagine.

Disney Cruises Are Just for Families

This is perhaps the biggest misconception of the Disney Cruise Line. While yes, many families and young ones love to sail with Mickey, a voyage on the Disney Cruise Line is a great option for couples, girls trips, friends and more! Disney has created several adult-only areas onboard every ship. Head into one of the clubs for a beverage, dancing and games. Swim in the adult’s only pool without the worry of being splashed by a little one.  On Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, there is even an adult’s only beach, Serenity Bay, where guests over 18 can lounge on the beach or swim in the ocean. Dine in one of the adult-exclusive restaurants such as Palo or Remy or take in a couples massage in the Senses Spa. There are so many options for adults only, that you may even find yourself enjoying them even if you bring the kids on your magical voyage, and avoiding another opf the Disney Cruise Line myths.

So now that you know how to avoid these Disney Cruise Line myths, what is keeping you from setting sail with Disney Cruise Line? The next voyage departs soon!
