Walt Disney World

Disney is NOT “Not opening until 2021”

An article has been circulating the internet claiming that the parks of Walt Disney World will likely not open until January of 2021.  We wanted to firmly address this rumor as being patently false.  Let us explain.

What is important here is that there has been no official announcement from Disney that references this date.  None.  Disney’s current position is that the parks are closed until further notice.  That’s it.  No Disney representative, to our knowledge, has stated this (or any) specific date, no official announcement has come from Disney stating this or any date, and therefore, it is not an official position of Disney.

These articles, however, are simply based on the opinion of one person who happens to be a Wall Street analyst for a financial firm.  That’s it.  Just an opinion.  An opinion that is offered with no factual statement from Disney to back it up.  In short, it’s just another rumor.

So, let’s talk about facts.  First, Disney is currently taking reservations for their resorts beginning June 1, 2020.  While this does not necessarily equate to a firm opening date, it does represent a willingness and desire on Disney’s part to reopen prior to 2021.  Recent modifications to the My Disney Experience app also indicate some new measures being placed to control social distancing measures for guests while in the park.  It is obvious that the parks are eyeing a more-now-than-later approach to reopening.

Another key thing to consider is that the President of Walt Disney World, Josh D’Amaro, is currently sitting on the Florida Governor’s Re-Open Florida Task Force working toward creating a plan to reopen the state in a safe way.  There is no reason to believe that Disney will not follow the recommended guidelines issued by the Governor toward reopening when it is released.

As a preferred partner with Disney, My Mickey Vacation Travel receives regular factual updates directly from the Disney company.  As we receive them, we pass the information directly to you, our guests.  Please continue to rely on the information we provide to you.  It will always be based on direct communication coming from the Disney company (or any of our other travel partners), and won’t be based in rumor or speculation.
